February's show had neat reveals of games like Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Mario Strikers: Battle League, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Nintendo Switch Sports. However, you never can quite be sure where this series will go next, narrative or mechanically, so we braved the back alleys of Kamurocho to gather all the intel we could on Like a Dragon 8.įollowing months of Nintendo-related leaks and a third-party showcase in June, the second full-fledged Nintendo Direct of 2022 is finally happening. This major shift paid off since that game was the bestseller in the series to date, so a sequel was all but inevitable. Like a Dragon 8 will be the direct sequel to Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon, which introduced us to the new protagonist of the series, Ichiban Kasuga, as well as the shift from a 3D action brawler to a turn-based JRPG. After the series took on the subtitle of Like a Dragon, which was always what the game was known as in Japan, that moniker has now fully replaced the old Yakuza branding. However, it appears that yet another, somewhat unexpected face from the series' past will be joining him in some capacity. This scruffy-haired goofball with a heart of gold (and fists of steel) is back for another adventure in the streets of Kamurocho and beyond. No one expected Ichiban's adventures to be over after just one outing, and we were right to assume so. That game is currently in the process of sunsetting its support less than three years after its launch. All of that already has fans drawing parallels to Marvel’s Avengers, another superhero team-up game with similar ideas. There is also a battle pass that will only contain cosmetics, as well as post-launch content such as new playable characters and missions. As characters get more powerful gear, the gear score increases. The game will have a power level called gear score for each character. Those who want to play Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League as a single-player experience will be able to do so, with bots filling in as the other three characters. Captain Boomerang has his speed force gauntlet in conjunction with his boomerang that lets him go in and out of combat fast. Deadshot can hover with his jetpack, while King Shark is a tank character that can help soak up enemy damage. Harley Quinn is the most acrobatic of the four characters, being able to grapple between buildings. Considering how dedicated and vocal Nintendo fans can be (especially diehard fans of the Metroid series), Metroid Prime 4 needs to be a well-polished game to see any kind. Retro Studios, the development studio behind the first three Metroid Prime games and the much-beloved Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze, will be taking over development of Metroid Prime 4. That basically resets the clock on a game highly anticipated by Nintendo fans. In a video to fans, senior managing executive officer Shinya Takahashi said that the “current development progress has not reached the standards we seek in a sequel to the Metroid Prime series.” Takahashi stated that Nintendo was not happy with the quality of the game and has decided to completely erase everything that has been done so far and to restart development. We’ve heard almost nothing about the development of the latest installment in the Metroid franchise, Metroid Prime 4, since its announcement at E3 2017. For a series that tends to fly under the radar and is usually forgotten, Metroid has an avid (if small) fan base.
